To better understand the current spate of controversies and protests that surround the burial of former Philippine Dictator Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB), our young learners must be educated on the atrocities - actual, moral, political, economic and others that Martial Law institutionalized.
This December, Knowledge Channel’s Kasayasayan TV (KTV) airs six episodes that define what could probably be the darkest era in contemporary Philippine history.
KTV, a home-grown series for learning Philippine History (Araling Panlipunan Grade 6) presents our nation’s past through the eyes of historians, national figures and authorities in various yet complementary fields while developing the learner’s critical thinking.
Marcos who died in exile in 1989 and was temporarily laid to rest in his hometown in Batac, Ilocos Norte, was recently buried in LNMB with full military honors following order from President Rodrigo Duterte and the Supreme Court’s decision affirming the legality of said instruction. This has outraged many and started a series of protests in Metro Manila and in key cities of the country.
